Engagement Session | The Greldons

ATTENTION: Wedding Shenanigans are underway!

A few days ago, Aaron and I cozied up in our home for an engagement session we set up with an incredible local photography company, Harrison's Lens. We had such an amazing afternoon with Harrison and Haley filled with effortless conversation, cracking jokes, and wrestling with the dogs to keep them entertained -- all while the camera continuously snapped.

We love to take the dogs to the lake near our house when the weather permits because they love to explore. It was really fun to be able to capture such a special moment in what we consider a normal day.

I have to say.... I could not have found a better couple to capture what me and Aaron had envisioned. These two exceeded our expectations and left us completely speechless.
(Literally, Aaron freaked out.)

I am so happy with the timeless photos Aaron and I will get to keep forever. This will be a year to remember and a lifetime to look forward to together.

We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

On My Mind: Home

After a long hiatus from the blog, I am back and have a few things on my mind --- likeeeee....our next big projects around the house, of course!

I am currently working on my formal dining area and have a new rustic farm table being built as we speak. While we patiently wait, I am browsing style inspiration and can't wait to get these projects on the road.

Our next HUGE task besides updating the dining furniture is replacing the flooring in all of the main living areas of our home. We currently have an old cherry hardwood, tan tile, AND carpet mixed everywhere and I can't hardly stand it any longer. So, our idea is to get rid of it all and replace it with a dark gray farm style hardwood to create a consistent flow throughout the main living areas of the house. It will be a project for sure, but I know it will pay off and feel so much more like home once we are done.

So here is some of the inspiration we love! Have a great Monday, a great rest of the week, and a Happy New Year.

Aaron and I have been chomping at the bit to re-design a home we can finally call our own. Over the past few years, we have rented a number of properties and are officially settled into the comfort of a home that we own and love.

Our first big project we agreed to tackle together was our kitchen. We bought the house knowing that this was something we would want to upgrade sooner rather than later & the previous kitchen design was outdated and needed a magic touch :) The good thing about Aaron and I conquering this project together was that we had the exact same design idea in mind... cozy, modern, and clean.

Here are a few photos of the kitchen from the previous owners before we closed on the home...

Before moving in we painted everything --including the cabinets in the kitchen for a slight pop of color. Like I mentioned before, we knew we wanted something modern and different :)

I ended up going to Ace Hardware when they were having a BOGO promotion on gallons of paint and decided on the brand Clark & Kensington in the color "Tower Bridge" for the bottom cabinet color.

(Side note: I also ended up using this color to paint over what was a horrific burgundy color on our front door.)

We ripped out the original laminate countertops and replaced them with granite. We found the granite at MC Granite in East Nashville and also replaced the sink with 40/60 stainless steel sink. The faucet was also replaced to mimic an industrial feel which fits our kitchen perfectly!

After that, we painted the cabinets and changed the hardware to stainless steel.

For the backsplash we decided on --white 3x6 subway tiles--from Home Depot to keep the feel of the kitchen clean with a modern touch. We were skeptical about the charcoal grout but it adds depth and a timeless style.

The demolition and replacement only took about 2 days and our kitchen was finally starting to take form :)

Once we had our new (and might I say AWESOME) backsplash installed, we took yet another trip to Home Depot to shop around for the appliances we needed to give the kitchen it's magic touch!

Finding the right appliances was a big search. Having the same brand of appliances wasn't that big of a deal to us. We were looking for stainless steel appliances with good design/functionality and a reasonable price. It all sounds easy to find, but we had to BE PATIENT.

We found a great deal on Samsung's Chef Collection Microwave and Range, which both have amazing features Aaron "needed" to have.
I found another great deal on a GE refrigerator with french doors, drawer freezer, and an absolute necessity -- a CRUSHED ICE dispenser.
The dishwasher is a Whirlpool and is so nice because it's only 46 dBs, which is extremely quiet.

And here she is....

Our Brand NEW Kitchen:

We absolutely love everything about it and couldn't wait to share it with you all...Hope you like it!!
